This nationally accredited course provides you with the skills to work as an aged care worker.

This course provides students with the skills to make individualised plans in order to meet all types of support needs. You’ll learn how to use discretion and judgement, as well as take responsibilities from feedbacks. Aside from theoretical knowledge, students will also learn about the factual, technical and procedural sides of working as a support worker.

Duration

This is a six month full time course. Students may choose to enrol on a part-time basis which then brings the duration up to 12 months.

Entry Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Be an Australian citizen/Permanent Resident or hold a valid visa for the duration (e.g. Subclass 500 - Student Visa)
  • Basic computing skills and have access to a modern computer with internet
  • Complete a test to assess your LLN- language, literacy and numeracy skills or have a valid English Language Test (i.e. IELTS or PTE).
  • A minimum overall score of 5.5 is required for candidates with IELTS with a minimum score of 5 in each band. Comparable PTE results will also be accepted.

Delivery Method

The course is delivered in class, and face-to-face. Students will be required to attend lectures in the designated campus as well as attend work placement for a minimum of 120 hours.

The work placement component is usually completed near the end of the course. Students will also be required to have access to a computer/smartphone and internet in order to complete online reading modules and assessments.
