This nationally accredited program will help you to gain a deeper understanding of aged care.
With this qualification, you can lead from the front as an aged care team leader. The program provides you with a broad understanding of the aged care industry, develops your leadership style, and provides real-world experience. The qualification prepares you to provide care to people who have palliative illnesses and dementia, coordinate services and interventions, and advocate for the needs of those you serve.
Duration
This is a one-year full-time course. Students may choose to enrol on a part-time basis which then brings the duration up to 12 months.
Entry Requirements
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Be an Australian citizen/Permanent Resident or hold a valid visa for the duration (e.g. Subclass 500 - Student Visa)
- Basic computing skills and have access to a modern computer with internet
- Complete a test to assess your LLN- language, literacy and numeracy skills or have a valid English Language Test (i.e. IELTS or PTE).
- A minimum overall score of 5.5 is required for candidates with IELTS with a minimum score of 5 in each band. Comparable PTE results will also be accepted.
Delivery Method
The course is delivered in class, and face-to-face. Students will be required to attend lectures in the designated campus as well as attend work placement for a minimum of 135 hours.
The work placement component is usually completed near the end of the course. Students will also be required to have access to a computer/smartphone and internet in order to complete online reading modules and assessments.
